Jerry Sturko

Obituary of Jerry Gordon Sturko

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Jerry Gordon Sturko on Monday, June 30, 2025, at the age of 70 years.

Jerry was born in Edmonton, AB, on December 21, 1954. He moved to Calgary, AB, for his childhood years and then to Surrey, BC, where he spent his adolescence, and later relocated back to Calgary to pursue his passion for the automotive industry.

Jerry was many things: a husband, father, grandpa, papa, brother, nephew, and leaderbut most importantly, he was a friend. A true friend to so many.

He is survived by his soulmate of 39 years, Lori Sturko, and his children: Gord Sturko (Angela) and Jennifer Seehra (their mother, Judy), Lindsay MacDonald (Joel), and Justin Sturko. He was a proud grandpa to Nathan, Tyler, Sara, and papa to Landon and Liam.

Jerry is also survived by his siblings: Grant Sturko (Sandra), Craig Sturko (Cheryl), Barb Sawchuk, and Cat Rogers (Scott); his brothers-in-law, Doug Shostak and Craig Shostak (Krista); and his father-in-law, Bill Shostak. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and extended family.

Jerry was predeceased by his parents, Gord and Ellen Sturko, and his mother-in-law, Alice Shostak.

In 1988, Jerry began what would become a lifelong passion for Volkswagen. He quickly became an iconic figure in the automotive community, known for his deep connections, personal touch, and dedication to his motto: "Jerry Says."  He was widely respected as one of the best in the business.

After retiring in 2017, Jerry fully embraced life—spending his days fishing, hunting, golfing, and traveling. He especially treasured time spent with family and friends.

A strong community member, Jerry was involved in many initiatives, from campaigning for Ward 11 to supporting the Heart & Stroke Foundation and the Willow Park Charity Golf Classic. His pride in his children and grandchildren was unwavering, and his accomplishments were many.

Jerry will be remembered for his immense kindness, infectious laughter, and his legendary, warm “Jer Bear” hugs that made everyone feel special.
