It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Victoria (Vicki) Margaret Baran. Vicki passed away peacefully at home in Calgary, AB, on Friday, May 3, 2024, at the age of 89 years.

Vicki was born on April 14, 1935, near Dauphin, MB, and was the third youngest of twelve children. After receiving her public education, Vicki attended Secretarial School and upon graduation, she worked as a legal secretary.

In 1956, she married the love of her life, Jack Baran and they began their lives together in Dauphin, MB. In 1966, Vicki and Jack moved to Calgary, AB, and lived in Acadia for 58 years. Upon moving to Calgary, she began working for Panarctic Oils and later worked for Petro Canada as an executive secretary.

In 1986, Vicki joined the Catholic Woman’s League and served as the president of St. Cecilia’s Parish Council #19. She also held the position of Secretary on the Parish Pastoral Council and Diocesan Religious Education Council.

In her leisure time, Vicki and Jack sang together in the St. Cecilia’s Choir, played bridge, and golfed. She also treasured spending time with her grandchildren. Vicki was a great cook and was always happy to have the entire family at her home for birthdays and holiday celebrations.

Vicki and Jack also enjoyed family camping trips and travelling to Hawaii, Disneyland, and Las Vegas for vacations. Upon retirement, they travelled overseas to Europe, and embarked on a 3-month car trip to Canada’s East Coast and back through the United States.

Vicki leaves behind her son Gregory (Jami), daughter Lisa Helmer, and her four grandchildren, Brittany and Anthony Helmer, Alicia and Hannah Baran. She also leaves behind her brother Ernie Brezden (Denise) of Thunderbay, ON, sister Bernice Cole (Alvin) of Dauphin, MB, brother-in-law Ron Baran (Jeannette) of Thornbury, ON, and numerous nieces and nephews.
