Obituary of Audrey Edith Burt

Audrey Burt’s journey through life came to a peaceful end on Sunday, May 5, 2024, in the presence of loved ones, at the age of 100 years.

Predeceased by Dennis Burt, her husband of 54 years, Audrey and Dennis celebrated their wedding on VE day in 1945 and soon thereafter commenced their adventure to Canada. Their work had them living in numerous cities throughout Western Canada before settling in Scarborough, ON. Upon his death, she returned to Calgary for her later years.

Audrey had a sharp mind and a love of numbers which served her well as a wireless operator in the Army Signal Corp during WWII and later as an accounting clerk. Upon her retirement, her life blossomed into that of a world traveler, enjoying the foods, cultures, dances, and scenery from around the globe. Tenacious and independent, Audrey line-danced well into her late 90s and took her last flight at age 100. She was an inspiration to others by continuing to live a full life despite her age.

Her spirit and love of travel lives on through her children, Linda and David; grandchildren, Sean, Scott, Kyle, and Kristy, and six great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Audrey’s Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.
